OTEC International LLC (OTI) was established by the non-profit Abell Foundation in 2001.

OTEC International LLC (OTI) was established by the non-profit Abell Foundation in 2001. This followed Abell’s exclusive license of Sea Solar Power’s technology. Sea Solar Power is the company that pioneered OTEC technology in the 60s and 70s and worked on its commercial development through 2004. Its founder, J. Hilbert Anderson, designed the first commercial geothermal system.

The Abell Foundation has a focus on supporting innovative technology that has an exceptional social, environmental and economic return – specifically energy efficiency and alternate energy. Abell is known best for its work with the PAICE hybrid engine technology that was licensed to Toyota, Ford and Hyundai.

OTI is a bespoke, innovative and privately funded small business, set up solely to develop OTEC technology, working with relevant countries and governments to deliver the best process for their local requirements.

Cayman OTEC is the locally registered subsidiary of OTI.  The Cayman subsidiary was set up for clarity, transparency and responsibility to the local project in Grand Cayman.

OTI have combined its unique patented innovations with well-established offshore principles and readily available components that can be adapted to meet a wide range of power needs for smaller tropical islands and larger coastal communities.
